BRICS pledges support for Africa

Johannesburg - BRICS reaffirmed Friday in Johannesburg, South Africa, their availability to continue to strengthen trade relations with African countries and boost investment in strategic sectors. ,

 

The commitment was renewed on the last day of the 10th Summit of the Group - Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa.

 

The members announced new investments in the continent, in areas such as aviation and staff training.

 

Addressing the event on African countries, Russian President Vladimir Putin, said his country is examining the possibility to offer African countries an application of nuclear power plants.

 

He said that there is a strong presence of Russian entrepreneurs in Africa, especially in Angola, operating in diamond production area.

 

In turn, Brazil's President Michel Temer has announced his country will  soon inaugurate a new training center for the Embraer aeronautical company in Johannesburg.

 

China's President Xi Jinping pledged another billion dollars to help African countries improve their food security.

 

The three-day BRICS Summit ended on Friday in Johannesburg.
