Darya Tinkova, 24, is a daughter of a billionaire Russian businessman Oleg Tinkov, 50.

She has caused a social media storm by saying she is ashamed to be Russian.

Ms Tinkova, who reportedly graduated from Oxford University, has been living in London for the past few years.

After Russian double-agent Sergei Skripal was poisoned along with his daughter, Tinkova wrote a social media post that infuriated many Russians.

In a post that appeared to criticise newly re-elected president Vladimir Putin, she told followers: “Many people ask me what do I think about this nonsense that is going on between England and Moscow.

“Here is what I think: I feel really upset that people from my motherland do not know how to behave properly.

“At the moment I am very ashamed to call myself a Russian in London – people turn to negative right away, and all because of ONE person not being able to behave properly and bottom line not being able to rule our country.

"Russia is still the best.”

She quickly deleted her post but it provoked a massive outcry. Netizen acidas25 said: “I am sorry that Tinkova is Russian. Tinkov is a motherf****r and he raised a motherf****r just as he is.

Bishop_lizard added: "My dear, why have you deleted your post? In Russia, we feel ashamed that people like you call themselves Russians."

Yulya Vityazeva added: “Oligarchs, whose children live abroad neglect one important thing when raising their children.

“They forget to tell them that it is rather reckless to say bad things about the country where their father is earning the money.

"People would barely appreciate it in places where you spend these money.”

Mr Tinkov has not commented on his daughter’s post.

Double-agent Sergei Skripal and his daughter Yulia are both critically ill after coming into contact with a nerve agent.

Earlier this month a British military chief warned that there was a "real risk" of war between Britain and Russia over the spy poisoning row.
