According to a report by the Daily Mail, which cited Russian state media outlets, the authorities in Moscow have also issued a fresh set of demands.

“We take the models and solutions proposed by the Americans very seriously, but we can’t accept it all in its current form," Sergei Ryabkov, Russian deputy foreign minister, was quoted as saying.
‘As far as we can see, there is no place in them today for our main demand, namely to solve the problems related to the root causes of this conflict,’ the minister was quoted as saying International Affairs in an interview.
“It is completely absent, and that must be overcome," he further added.
Trump criticised both Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on Sunday, voicing frustration over the ongoing war he had promised to end quickly.
He claimed negotiations were making progress but warned that he might impose additional sanctions to pressure Moscow.
Russia has rejected a joint US-Ukrainian proposal for an unconditional and full ceasefire but says it agreed a temporary halt on Ukrainian energy sites. Kyiv says Russia has repeatedly hit energy sites anyway.
“This morning, another Russian strike damaged a power facility in Kherson, leaving 45,000 residents without electricity," Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiga told a news conference.
Russia has launched systematic aerial attacks on Ukrainian power plants and grid since launching its so-called ‘military operation’ in February 2022.
Asked about Trump’s latest remarks about wanting Putin to do a deal on Ukraine, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters earlier on Tuesday that Moscow was “continuing our contacts with the American side".
“The subject is very complex. The substance that we are discussing, related to the Ukrainian settlement, is very complex. This requires a lot of extra effort."
Before the weekend, Trump had adopted a more conciliatory stance towards Russia that had left Western allies wary as he tried to broker an end to the conflict in Ukraine, now in its fourth year.
But in recent days and amid lobbying by Europeans such as Finland’s president urging him to hold Russia to account, he has adopted a tougher tone.
