Former congressman tops challengers to win third term

Steve Pearce can look forward to his third two-year term as Republican Party of New Mexico (RPNM) chairman. The former congressman and Republican gubernatorial candidate won 55.2 percent of the vote from members of the party's State Central Committee. Sarah Jane Allen finished second with 20.7 percent, Robert Aragon came in third with 13.2 percent, followed by Eddy Aragon with 10.4 percent and Rodney Tahe with 0.5 percent.In a news release, Pearce said, "This was a spirited campaign, and I thank the grassroots Republican leaders from across New Mexico for trusting me to lead for another term as RPNM chairman. An overwhelming number of these leaders agree our data-driven approach to identifying and turning out conservative leaning voters is working, proven by the fact that Republican candidates are getting closer and closer to defeating the Democrats in competitive races."Also elected Saturday were Amy Barela as vice-chair, Leticia Munoz-Kaminski as second vice-chair, Donelle Inventor as congressional district (CD) vice-chair, Rebecca Dow as CD second vice-chair, Drew Denger as CD third vice-chair, Mary Trujillo Spinelli as secretary, and Kim Kvamme as treasurer.
