Ben Poisson scored twice during Maine’s three-goal second period, and the Black Bears extended their winning streak to three games with a 5-1 Hockey East victory Saturday at Vermont.

Grayson Arnott, Donavan Villeneuve-Houle and Jakub Sirota also scored for Maine (5-8-1, 2-5-1 Hockey East).

COLBY 4, BOWDOIN 2: Henry Molson broke a tie with 2:51 remaining as the Mules (5-0, 3-0 NESCAC) rallied past the Polar Bears (4-1, 2-1) in Waterville.

James Tepper tied the game early in the third and Drew Burke clinched the win with an empty-net goal.

Bowdoin led 2-1 after two periods on second-period goals by Gabe Shipper and Jack Studley, sandwiched around a goal by Colby’s John McElaney.

UNIVERSITY OF NEW ENGLAND 4, SUFFOLK 2: Ryan Kuzmich and Daniel Winslow each had a goal and an assist to help the Nor’easters (6-3, 6-2 Commonwealth Coast) beat the Rams (1-7-1, 1-7) in East Boston, Mass.

Garrett Devine and Mike Tersoni also scored for UNE. Billy Girard made 22 saves.

NORWICH 5, SOUTHERN MAINE 1: Former UMaine player Brady Gaudette scored twice in the third period as the Cadets (7-2-1, 5-1-1 NEHC) pulled away from the Huskies (1-9, 1-7) in Gorham.

USM trailed 2-1 after two periods, following a goal by Tanner McClure late in the second.

WOMEN’S BASKETBALL

ST. JOSEPH’S 72, COLBY-SAWYER 32: Nina Howe scored all 12 of her points during a 20-4 run in the second quarter that sparked the Monks (5-3) to a blowout win over the Chargers (2-5) in Standish.

St. Joseph’s led 14-13 before Howe started the Monks’ big surge with a layup and a 3-pointer.

Hannah Talon finished with 18 points on 7-of-9 shooting to lead the Monks. Howe had eight assists and eight steals.

UNIVERSITY OF NEW ENGLAND 71, WESTERN NEW ENGLAND 66: Jordyn Franzen forced overtime by making two free throws with two-tenths of a second remaining, and the Nor’easters (6-3) beat the Golden Bears (2-6) in Springfield, Massachusetts.

All five starters scored in double figures for UNE, led by Franzen with 19. Faye Veilleux added 13, Kaylee Beyor and Keagan Dunbar each had 12 and Juliana Tracey scored 10.

BOWDOIN 60, COLBY 48: Sydney Jones scored 28 points to lead the Polar Bears (4-1) over the Mules (3-3) in Waterville.

Caroline Smith led Colby with 20 points.

ST. JOSEPH’S 84, COLBY-SAWYER 54: John Paul Frazier paced a balanced offense with 16 points as the Monks (4-4) raced past the Chargers (3-4) in Standish.

Teagan Hynes scored 12 points, and Ashtyn Abbott had 10 points and 12 rebounds. Nicholas Curtis and Griffin Foley chipped in with 11 and 10 points, respectively.

COLBY 66, BRANDEIS 52: Lucas Green paced the Mules (8-0) with 13 points as they topped the Judges (6-1) in Waterville.

Will King had 12 points and six assists, and Noah Tyson finished with 10 points and nine rebounds.

KEENE STATE 83, SOUTHERN MAINE 70: Octavio Brito scored 37 points and Jeff Hunter added 22 to lead the Owls (8-0, 1-0 Little East) past the Huskies (6-2, 0-1) in Gorham.

Tommy Whelan and Mark Asare paced USM with 13 points apiece. Chance Dixon (12) and Jason Lombard (10) also reached double figures.

WESTERN NEW ENGLAND 86, UNIVERSITY OF NEW ENGLAND 53: Tim Restall finished with 22 points and nine rebounds to power the Golden Bears (5-2) past the Nor’easters (2-7) in Springfield, Massachusetts.

Ant Moynihan led UNE with 13 points. Ray Evans and Drake Gavin each scored 11.

ROCHESTER 83, BOWDOIN 67: Ryan Algier scored 20 points to help the Yellowjackets (6-1) beat the Polar Bears (3-3) in the UAA/NESCAC Challenge in Rochester, New York.

Bowdoin’s James McGowan led all scorers with 24 points. Alex Halpern finished with 12.

EMORY 86, BATES 52: Cale Martens led all scorers with 17 points as the Eagles (5-1) downed the Bobcats (3-4) in Lewiston.

Simon McCormick scored 13 points for Bates. Steph Baxter had 11 points, six rebounds and four assists.

WOMEN’S HOCKEY

MAINE 3, BOSTON UNIVERSITY 2: Luisa Welcke notched a pair of goals as the Black Bears (11-10, 8-6 Hockey East) edged the Terriers (6-12, 5-9) in Boston.

Mira Seregely also scored for Maine. Jorden Mattison made 29 saves.

COLBY 2, BOWDOIN 0: Tate Senden and Breanna Studley scored and Mandy Busky made 20 saves as the Mules (5-0, 2-0 NESCAC) shut out the Polar Bears (2-4, 1-3) in Waterville.

Dani Marquez racked up 36 saves for Bowdoin.

NORWICH 8, SOUTHERN MAINE 1: Mikah Baptiste netted a hat trick as the Cadets (7-1, 6-0 NEHC) handled the Huskies (5-6, 5-3) in Northfield, Vermont.

Madison Chagnan scored for USM. Haley McKim made 33 saves.

SUFFOLK 3, UNIVERSITY OF NEW ENGLAND 3: A power-play goal by Hannah Humes tied the game with 6:01 left in regulation, and UNE (5-5-1) settled for a tie against Suffolk (7-3-1) in Biddeford.

Kelly Kasputis and Abbi Charvat also scored for UNE, and Delanie Corcoran made 41 saves.
